Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada, (FACT), is a non-profit United Way agency dedicated to helping children, adults and families overcome and heal the traumas of abuse, neglect and violence through prevention, education and treatment services. FACT has provided services in Southern Nevada since 1984, and serves as the only non-profit agency in Clark County addressing the counseling needs of sexually abused children and their non-offending parents and has assisted thousands of children and adults develop into more functional, productive members of the community by alleviating some of the devastating effects of abuse upon their lives. FACT maintains community-based partnerships and leadership to insure that families affected by violence and abuse have access to and affordability of professional counseling services, ongoing support, education and a safe place to begin to heal.
A 9 volunteer member Board of Directors is responsible to the community to insure that the mission and the fiscal viability of FACT is maintained. With the FY 2006 budget of $1million, FACT employs 8 therapists, 2 community outreach educators, 7 visitation and exchange staff, 2 administrative specialists and the Executive Director.
FACT services include; Child and Adult Victim Counseling Services specializing in child sexual abuse, physical and emotionally abused children, children witnessing domestic violence, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, domestic violence and rape victims; The Stepping Stones Children’s Outreach Counseling Program, serves sexually abused children at outreach sites throughout the community; Community Outreach and Prevention Education Services provides sexual abuse and child abuse education to youth and adults throughout the in the community; Donna’s House Central a joint project with Clark County Family Court providing safe visitation and exchange program for children of families affected by violence and familial discord; Adolescent Substance Abuse Program provides group education and individual outpatient treatment for Clark County adolescents; and Offender Services provides treatment for adult and juvenile sexual offenders.
In 2004 FACT provided services to 992 children and adults, and 1,140 children throughout the community received Sexual Assault Prevention Education. FACT is funded by several state and federal grants designated to assist victims of family violence, employee designations through United Way of Southern Nevada and MGM-Mirage, Child Abuse treatment and prevention grants from United Way of Southern Nevada, The John Ritter Foundation, In-n-Out Burger Foundation, Catholic Health Care West, individual donors, and For A Child’s Tomorrow, an annual fundraiser designed to honor members of our community who are dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
